St. John’s International Airport Celebrates the Festive Season with its Third Annual Christmas Concert Series

ST. JOHN’S, NL, December 10, 2009 – St. John’s International Airport Authority is pleased to announce the line-up for its third annual Christmas concert series, scheduled to start today and will run until December 21, 2009.Choirs from local schools and professional musicians and carolers will entertain passengers, greeters, employees and the public, spreading Christmas cheer throughout the Airport Terminal Building.

Local school choirs will provide half-hour performances in front of the 25 foot Christmas tree in the atrium of the Airport Terminal Building during the lunch hour and local musicians and carolers will also perform throughout the Airport Terminal Building daily from December 18^th to the 23^rd.The concert series will conclude at 12:30pm on Wednesday, December 23^rd , one of the busiest travel days of the year, with a performance by the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble.

The current schedule for school choirs is as follows:

·Thursday, December 10^th– Holy Cross Junior High

·Friday, December 11^th – Vanier Elementary

·Tuesday, December 15^th – St. Bonaventure’s College

·Wednesday, December 16^th – St. Bonaventure’s College

·Friday, December 18^th – MacDonald Drive Elementary

·Monday, December 21^st – Virginia Park Elementary

“This is an event that, over the last two years, has been very positively received by the audiences that have enjoyed the Christmas music,” said Keith Collins, President & CEO of the St. John’s International Airport Authority. “The Christmas concert series is another forum that allows us to offer our building as a venue to showcase local talent while at the same time creating a high spirited atmosphere at a time when we receive many visitors to our facility.”
